Obama 72%, McCain 26%
I teach in a middle school in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Definitely not a hotbed of liberal thinking. We are part of what the McCain campaign calls the "real Virginia," not the "CommieLand" of Northern Virginia. Our school participates in an on-line math remediation program that is available nation wide. Schools all over the United States participate in this excellent program. Today, when my students logged in they were given the opportunity to participate in a mock presidential election and to see the nationwide results. I didn't poll my students on their votes, but did see quite a few picking Obama. The current results for this adminttedly unscientific poll has Obama winning 72% to 26%. I think the significance of this can't be understated. Kids hear what their parents are saying and their ideas are usually formed by what they hear at home. What do you think these kids are hearing?
