Celebrity for Warner

Endorsements are an important prize in elections. Both John McCain and Barack Obama have received endorsements from numerous politicians and key public figures. The important ones are those that aren't expected. Such as Joe Liberman for McCain, and Matthew Dowd (Bush's chief campaign strategist in 2004) for Obama.

Endorsements are significant not only in Presidential elections, but in all elections. Former Governor of Virginia Mark Warner, who is running for the open Senate seat being vacated by six term Senator John Warner (R), is receiving a lot of endorsements from members of the Republican party. This list includes Preston Bryant (former Republican delegate), Vince Callahan (former Republican delegate), John Chichester (former Republican state senator), Jim Dillard (former Republican delegate), Linwood Holton (former Republican governor), Russ Potts (former Republican state senator), Panny Rhodes (former Republican delegate), and Jack Rollison (former Republican delegate). One name who isn't on this list, but who has taken an active role in the campaign is comedian/actor Jason Alexander. Alexander is not necessarily considered a big name these days, but he is out there stumping for Mark Warner. A recent campaign email compared the Congress to his show Seinfeld. It was a humorous comparison, and one that give the current situation seems appropriate. Below is the email from Jason Alexander, formerly known by many as "George."

If you thought Seinfeld was a show about nothing, you should check out Congress. I can't remember such a lack of productivity since the summer of George. In all seriousness, the gridlock in Washington is extremely worrisome. This crowd has already set an all-time record for filibusters in a single Congress, and they're still in session! No matter how many good ideas are out there, if we can't move beyond the same partisan politics, not much is going to happen. That's why I'm throwing my full support behind Mark Warner. He hasn't just talked a good game. As governor, he actually walked the walk by working across the aisle to deliver results and turn Virginia's struggling economy around.I'm asking you to help elect Mark Warner and send his kind of leadership to Washington. With just a few days to go until the next big filing deadline, it's more important than ever that we show our support for his campaign. By making a contribution, you can demonstrate a strong commitment to pointing our country in a new direction.
