Campaign Rally? or Angry Mob?

Sarah Palin is making a visit to Elon, North Carolina. My brother, Eli, joked that maybe he would show up with his Obama t-shirt on. I found it to be a humorous idea, but a little scary. I can't imagine the type of abuse a supporter of Barack Obama's would garner at a McCain/Palin rally. The Republican rallies have become increasingly nasty, and fear-mongering has taken center stage as a key campaign strategy. The word terrorist is used about as frequently as maverick is these days. The crowd spends more energy yelling about Obama, then applauding McCain for his ideas on policy issues. A sad reality is that many people are supporting John McCain not because they believe he will fix this country, but because they are scared of Barack Obama. It is fear-mongering and hate-mongering at its finest, and it screams of the same Karl Rove tactics that McCain decried in 2000. With the country facing two wars and the greatest economic crisis of this century, we should be hearing about the issues, not about Bill Ayers. I know some individuals (Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh) find this issue to be significant, but the truth is guilt by association is counter productive and takes away from the real discussion Americans should be having.

The video below shows the shocking behavior taking place at McCain/Palin rallies. It screams ignorance, and John McCain and Sarah Palin should act as responsible politicians and attempt to curb this anger and fear that they and their campaign have worked so hard to create.
