Eric Cantor for Vice-President...don't think so
Over the last couple of days the name Eric Cantor has been floating around as a potential VP pick for McCain. CNN is reporting that he has been requested to deliver documents for the VP vetting process. McCain and Obama both need to pick vice-presidents that help with their weaknesses. Cantor fills in some of those perceived weaknesses for McCain. A Cantor pick would be attractive for several reasons: He is young, Jewish, and a staunch conservative whom the right adores. Lastly, his home state of Virginia will be a competitive battleground where Obama has been doing well in the early polls. It may be that Cantor's name is being floated as a response to Tim Kaine's potential pick by Obama.
Problems with Cantor include the fact that he just doesn't generate much excitement. He had a very public embarrassment when he wrongly stated that the constitution gives the President authority to declare war and he only needs to consult with Congress out of good manners. See the video below. He is so conservative that he may alienate more moderate republicans and those conservative democrats who are now planning to vote for McCain. On a lighter side you gotta love a guy who is so full of himself that he operates a PAC called "ERIC." (Every Republican is Crucial)
