Happy Father's Day.....you idiot!

Listening to the radio the other day I heard a report about Father's Day cards and Mother's Day cards. The majority of cards available for Mother's Day speak lovingly about mothers. They are kind, wise, loving and responsible for bringing wonderful children into the world. The majority of the Father's Day cards portray a different story. Father's burp, fart, and do stupid things. The majority of Mother's Day cards are serious, the majority of Father's Day cards are humorous and poke fun at fathers. Speaking for myself, I do fart and burp. My wife does too...but that doesn't make it into a Mother's Day card. I know this isn't a huge issue, and it almost seems like whining, but it's kind of symptomatic of our society that in our politically correct sense of humor the only ones that we can still make fun of are men, particularly fathers. Well, I'm happy to sacrifice for I think our world is too humorless....go ahead, make fun of fathers. Laugh at our expense. It's okay because we know that the majority of dads are great guys who do more than burp and fart. Laugh away at our ineptness....maybe it will make the world a better place.
